Square Deposits: What Bookkeep Does Not Post

Overview​

When using Square with Bookkeep, it’s important to understand that not all financial activity is accessible through Square’s API. As a result, there are certain transactions that Bookkeep cannot see or post.

Limited Visibility into Square Financial Accounts​

While Square has expanded access to some financial data, there are still limitations on what can be retrieved by external providers like Bookkeep.

Square Checking Accounts​

Bookkeep now supports visibility into Square checking account activity. To learn more about how this data is handled, please visit:

Square Savings Accounts​

Square does not currently provide API access to Square savings account activity.

This means:

  • Transfers into or out of Square savings accounts

  • Any internal savings account activity

👉 These transactions are not visible to Bookkeep and will not be automatically recorded.

Square Debit Card Activity​

Square also does not provide API access to transactions made using:

  • Square debit cards

This means any spending activity tied to a Square debit card is not visible to Bookkeep and will not be automatically recorded.

What This Means for Your Accounting​

If funds are:

  • Moved into or out of a Square savings account

  • Spent using a Square debit card

  • Transacted in ways not exposed via Square’s API

👉 These transactions will not be visible to Bookkeep and therefore will not be automatically recorded in your accounting system.

What Bookkeep Does Post​

Bookkeep focuses on posting sales, fees, payouts, and other available transactional data directly from Square.
