Bookkeep Inventory: Overview

Bookkeep Inventory is a purchasing and receiving system for Shopify, built on an accounting ledger so costs pushed to Shopify are auditable and flow straight into your books.

It is a complete replacement for Stocky, Shopify's in-house inventory tool, which sunsets on August 31, 2026. Like Stocky, it scales to POs hundreds of lines long and supports multiple concurrent fee allocations. When you migrate your supplier and vendor records carry over with their last known costs.

More key features:

  • One PO can cover multiple locations, on screen and on the printout
  • Barcode scanning and label printing
  • Full-screen mode for intensive ordering and receiving jobs
  • Unplanned items added mid-receipt

Priced a receipt wrong? A cost correction fixes it at the original receive date, recalculates fees and WAC, and re-pushes to Shopify. Wrong quantity or wrong PO? Void the receipt and receive again.

Getting started

Coming from Stocky? Start at Migrating from Stocky to Bookkeep Inventory. Paste in your Stocky API key and your suppliers, full PO history, and supplier costs import automatically. The import is idempotent, so re-run it as often as you like while you are still operating in Stocky. Then seed your opening average costs with the Variant Cost Import. It backdates, so nothing has to freeze while you migrate.

Starting fresh? Create your suppliers, choose your cost tracking method, and build your first PO. Everything else follows from receiving it.

Worth knowing up front

  • Imported Stocky POs are static records of what you ordered. To pick up a Stocky draft PO, use Duplicate to recreate it.
  • Landed cost fee amounts cannot be edited after receiving, by design. Void and re-receive instead.
  • QuickBooks bill push is in beta and enabled per customer. Reach out if you'd like it turned on.
  • Forecasting and auto-replenishment are available as beta features.
