Line-Level Location Mapping for QuickBooks in Bookkeep

Bookkeep now supports mapping QuickBooks Locations at the line level, giving you significantly more flexibility and control over how your data is categorized and reported.

What’s New

Previously, Bookkeep allowed you to assign one Location per journal entry in QuickBooks. This meant all lines within that entry were grouped under the same Location.

With this enhancement, you can now:

  • Map different Locations to individual lines within the same entry

  • Align your accounting data more precisely with how your business operates

Why This Matters

Line-level Location mapping enables more accurate and granular reporting in QuickBooks by allowing you to:

  • Track performance across multiple locations within a single entry

  • Better reflect real-world operations (e.g., multi-location sales, shared transactions)

  • Improve financial visibility and reporting accuracy

Key Benefits

1. Greater Flexibility

  • Assign different Locations to each line item

  • No longer constrained to a single Location per entry

2. More Accurate Reporting

  • Generate location-specific P&L reports with higher precision

  • Ensure revenue, fees, and other components are attributed correctly

3. Better Alignment with Dimensions

  • Combine line-level Location mapping with other dimensions (e.g., classes, accounts)

  • Maintain consistency across your mapping setup

How It Works

  • Within your mapping configuration, you can now assign a QuickBooks Location per line

  • These mappings are applied during sync, ensuring each line posts with the correct Location in QuickBooks

When to Use Line-Level Location Mapping

This feature is especially useful when:

  • Transactions span multiple locations

  • You need to split revenue, fees, or costs across locations

  • You want more granular reporting in QuickBooks

Summary

Line-level Location mapping gives you more control, more accuracy, and more meaningful reporting in QuickBooks. By moving beyond a single Location per entry, you can better reflect the complexity of your business and make more informed decisions.
