Dutchie Journal Entry Types
Bookkeep enables you to integrate your Dutchie store to automate journal entry postings to your accounting platform.
The two journal entry postings we automate with Dutchie are:
- Sales Summary
- Cogs (Cost of Goods Sold)
Sales Summary Journal Entry
The Sales Summary journal entry posts daily sales from the prior day to your accounting platform. It captures the gross sales, discounts, returns, sales tax collected, and various payment methods.
Below is an example of a Sales Summary journal entry:

The journal entry breaks down sales by product category, showing the detailed revenue for each item:

Account Mapping
When setting up the Sales Summary journal entry, you'll need to map the following line items to accounts in your accounting platform:

The key mappings include:
- Gross Sales: Your revenue account
- Discounts: Your discount/promotional account (debit)
- Returns: Your returns account (debit)
- Sales Tax Collected: Your sales tax liability account (credit)
- Cash Tendered: Your cash/bank account or undeposited funds account (debit)
Source Data
Each journal entry includes access to the source data files used to generate the entry:

The source data includes:
- Summary totals
- Detailed sales by product
- Tax breakdown
- Payment details
Cogs (Cost of Goods Sold) Journal Entry
The Cogs journal entry captures the cost of goods sold for items sold through Dutchie. This journal entry helps you track inventory reduction and the associated cost as products are sold.

Account Mapping
The Cogs journal entry requires mapping two key accounts:

The mappings include:
- Cost of Goods Sold: Your COGS expense account (debit)
- Inventory Reduction: Your inventory asset account (credit)

The source data provides the closing report with cost details for the period.
